Fallout 3 Help pweeese =P?

On Fallout 3 I have left the vault at 10 years old and when I try and activate things like the megaton bomb or the elevator going up the washington monument It says "Children cannot use that." I have tried to go to the console, click on what am trying to use and type activate, but it hasn't worked. =( So has anyone learnt how to do it?
